Since Shadow Embroidery is one of my favorite forms of embroidery, I thought I would put patterns and books in their very own category.
Shadow Embroidery is worked on sheer fabric by covering the design with a closed herringbone stitch. The color of the thread shows on the right side as a shadowy tint, outlined by tiny stitches around the edge. The patterns are traced onto your fabric and then embroidered. Some of the fabrics that work well for shadow embroidery are batiste, lawn, voile, and handkerchief linen. Give it a try - I promise you will love it!
