A message from Judy:
25 years. Can you believe it? It’s A Stitch opened on July 1, 1992 when John and I purchased The Bernina Fabric Gallery where I had worked for 5 years. So much has happened during that time and it has been a joyous ride. But change is inevitable and I have decided to retire. I will miss the business and our customers, but I look forward to the next chapter of my life. A life that includes being a customer at Cupcake Quilts! Yes, I have sold the business to Cupcake Quilts as I know they are good strong Bernina dealers and are devoted to good customer service. I look forward to seeing you as we shop together! Please read the Cupcake Quilts message below:
Exciting News – Cupcake Quilts Plans to Buy It’s A Stitch!
We hope you share the excitement about the plans for the Cupcake Quilts organization to acquire It’s A Stitch in Humble! The transaction is targeted for completion on June 30, or soon thereafter.

Our valued customers have many questions... so here is some basic info:
What is Cupcake’s Basic Plan?
  • Cupcake plans to run two Bernina Dealerships that are also full-service Quilt Shops.

• Our many valued customers in the Northwest Region of Houston (and beyond) appreciate “the happy place” that the Cupcake Team has built in The Red Schoolhouse in Old Town Spring. The goal is to continue to grow that business.

• At the same time, we want to earn success in a Northeast Houston Area location. The goal is to revitalize the Humble Store by working to restore its full vitality as a premier Quilt Shop.
Will fabric be brought back to Humble?
Yes – that is the plan!
  • We anticipate having a fabric boutique with a substantial number of bolts starting-up in July. We will grow from there – making good business decisions about expanding inventory based on demand and volume of business.

• Please continue to shop our great array of over 4000 bolts of exciting fabrics in Old Town Spring!
What about unfilled orders for Bernina equipment?
  • Cupcake will be filling open orders placed with It’s A Stitch, as quickly as possible after the deal closes.

• We have inventory of many models in stock at Old Town Spring, and we have ready access for fast delivery of additional stock from Bernina of America’s distribution operations at Chicago.
What about Warranty Claims and Tech Service Support?
  • Cupcake will stand in place of It’s A Stitch for these important activities.

• Warranty Claims will be processed quickly – in accordance with Bernina’s policies and standards.

• Cupcake is proud of its strong Service Department in Old Town Spring. Many of you know “Mr. Cupcake” – Stacie’s husband, Brad Johnson. Brad is a Bernina Certified Technician and a Mechanical Engineer. He will manage a combined Service Operation serving both locations.
What about the great Classes and Educational Offerings that have been traditional at It’s A Stitch?
  • There are no plans to cancel anything. In fact – the plan is to grow the offerings from both locations.

• Old Town Spring has developed a reputation for great Events like OESD and the up-coming Sew-a-palooza! The goal is to provide more of this type of excitement and value in the future.
Your business and your support are truly appreciated!
