Each motif is fused to a simple courthouse steps block. Stitching Society

If working with wool, flannels and cotton, perfecting various embroidery stitches, 15 new hexagon applique patterns plus a small project each month and ending up with a beautiful hexagon quilt is in your dreams, come join us at Stitching Society. We meet on the first Thursday of the month, from 1:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon OR from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening of that day. We will be working with wool appliqué, (this is optional, flannels or cotton can be substituted) then once the appliqué is stitched on we will embellish the blocks with embroidery stitches, beads and glitz. The finished appliqué blocks are hexagon shaped and will be used to make a quilt. Club members receive patterns for all of the small projects but may choose not to make them all. The membership cost is $170 which includes a year's worth of stitching fun.

We need to order a membership packet BEFORE your first meeting, so it is necessary to sign up as soon as possible. You can sign up online, in person or by phone.

Whatnots Club

Join us for the final three months of Kim Diehl's Whatnots club. Kim Diehl is a quilt and fabric designer and has published many books and patterns. Her fabric colors are beautiful with deep, vibrant colors that lean to the "old fashioned" look. She has designed 6 new small projects just for the Whatnots Club from her current fabric line, "Sunday Best", that are fun to make and can actually be completed in a day (or two).

Our club meets each month on the 3rd Thursday. The classroom will be available between classes if you want to work on the project longer.

At the club Christina will share tips and ideas to make the projects easier to construct. Plus, we will have a lot of fun talking and sharing treats. The club fee is $5.00 per session and we require you to sign up in advance so we will know how many kits to have available. <

The kit fees will vary slightly each month depending on the amount of fabric in the kits. They will usually be in the $20.00-$35.00 price range. You will also receive some extra little tips from Kim each month along with a recipe for something yummy. We look forward to having you.

Our Star a Day Challenge, the Lucy Boston Quilt, Hexagons and more -- did you know they can be done easily WITHOUT paper piecing or a machine? Stonefields Sew Day

Come and enjoy an afternoon of stitching with others who are working the on Stonefields block of the month. Bring one (or more) of your kits and whatever sewing tools you use and we will have an enjoyable afternoon of working on our blocks.

We can share tips that we have discovered work well and I will go over the layout of the hexagons in the border. Much thanks to Connie Ritchie who shared a wonderful way to arrange the hexagons. Even if you are not that far along, you will want to come see how this technique is done. If you want to prepare a border during the afternoon, make sure you bring your kit #11 and freezer paper at least 72" long and 12" wide. Come join the fun.
