Fusible Machine Applique

Learn the basics of fusible machine appliqué in this class where you will make a 16” block suitable for quilting. Turn your block into a pillow cover, table topper, or wall hanging. Each motif is fused to a simple courthouse steps block. Several simple appliqué designs will be available to pick from to work on in class including a shamrock, heart, bluebird, or simple tulip bouquet. Working with fusible web and selecting the right stitch on your machine to attach your appliqué to the block will be our focus.

One Block Wonder

Learn the basics of the One Block Wonder, Super 60º Clearview triangle technique of creating kaleidoscopic units. Use 6 repeats of a medium to large-scale print to make hexies from the sets of 6 equilateral triangles and create a unique color-flow layout for your quilt or wall-hanging. I will show you a stream-lined way to chain piece your triangles to speed up the unit assembly process.

This is a 2-part class with the cutting and assembly of units in part 1, and the color-flow layout and top assembly in part 2.

Your homework between classes will be to finish sewing/pinning all of your units together before the second class.

Whatnots Club

Join us for the final three months of Kim Diehl's Whatnots club. Kim Diehl is a quilt and fabric designer and has published many books and patterns. Her fabric colors are beautiful with deep, vibrant colors that lean to the "old fashioned" look. She has designed 6 new small projects just for the Whatnots Club from her current fabric line, "Sunday Best", that are fun to make and can actually be completed in a day (or two).

Our club meets each month on the 3rd Thursday. The classroom will be available between classes if you want to work on the project longer.

At the club Christina will share tips and ideas to make the projects easier to construct. Plus, we will have a lot of fun talking and sharing treats. The club fee is $5.00 per session and we require you to sign up in advance so we will know how many kits to have available. <

The kit fees will vary slightly each month depending on the amount of fabric in the kits. They will usually be in the $20.00-$35.00 price range. You will also receive some extra little tips from Kim each month along with a recipe for something yummy. We look forward to having you.
