Marti and Me Club

This is the last Marti and Me class for those club members who were already signed up.

Twilling is an old-fashioned stitch that adds a lot of elegance to any project. It is very easy to do and also very addictive. Once you learn the technique the possibilities for embellishing quilts are endless. We are offering this one hour class on different days to accommodate any and all schedules!

Beginning Free Motion Quilting

With your domestic sewing machine, you can create heirloom quilts. This beginner class will cover topics ranging from marking your quilt, batting choices, pinning your quilt, working with stencils, free motion fills, grid work, to alternate ways to transfer designs to your quilt tops. You will practice quilting loops, curves, straight lines, free motion designs, and a feathered wreath, all using your home sewing machine. Learn to pin your quilt and prepare it for quilting.

Late Night at QB&P

Spend a Friday night sewing, snacking and visiting with other quilters. This is one of our most popular events and we always have a great time while accomplishing a lot of quilting. Bring your current quilting projects and a snack to share. This is a great opportunity to get in some quality quilting time while enjoying the fellowship of other quilters.

Sew Day

It's a "Work" party! We are holding Sew Day on the third Wednesday of each month. Bring your machine and current project to work on. A day spent with quilting friends will improve your outlook on life! Be sure to sign up as although our classroom is large, we won't overfill it.

Quilt Camp

Three full days of sewing – just think how much you can accomplish in that time! Each day begins at 9:30, on Thursday we will sew until 7:00 pm. Friday we will stop at midnight (unless you decide to fold earlier) and finish up by 4:00 pm on Saturday. Bring snacks to share and your sewing projects. In order to keep it as economical as possible, we will ONLY provide the Friday evening meal. Feel free to bring a sack lunch or there are a number of restaurants nearby that you can go to, or order a take out meal to bring back

Brazilian Embroidery

Learn some new embroidery techniques using the beautiful EdMar Rayon embroidery floss. This class will get you started making a Nine Flower Sampler. Using floss and needles provided in the kit and with just eight fun dimensional embroidery stitches - some you may already know, we'll work on creating beautiful flower arrangements.

Folded Star Hot Pad

It's never too early to start thinking about the holidays. Learn to make a seasonal hot pad using the folded square method. They are easy to make and a lot of fun. You can make a fall one or one for Christmas or you might have so much fun making it that you will need to make one for each holiday. They will look great on your table or make a great gift to give to your friends.

Heirloom Treasures – Vintage Linen Crazy Quilt Workshop

Many have expressed interest in having a class so they too can make a quilt with the Heirloom Treasures they've inherited. Bring your drawer full of vintage linens, (Hankies, Embroidered and/or crocheted Pillow Cases, Dresser Scarves, and Doilies) and we will work together to showcase your vintage linens in a lovely quilt. I will have my laptop to assist you in altering the very center if necessary so your favorite piece will be shown off to its best advantage. Heirloom Treasures Pattern required.

EQ-7 Beginner Class

This is a great class to learn the basics of using EQ7, or a good refresher course if your skills are a bit rusty. This is a hands-on class for those who have the program already. It must be installed and activated on your lap top computer prior to the class. A mouse is a must! Bring a notebook. Lots of handouts provided.

Karen Styles - Sit and Stitch

Clamshells are a traditional design used in many antique and modern quilts. Learn how easy they are to create using English Paper Piecing and applique. Create a small quilt, a bed runner or add an interesting border to your quilt.

Okehampton, Karen's newest quilt uses many different techniques, hand piecing, machine piecing and English Paper Pieced hexagons and clamshells. This one day class will cover several different techniques giving you the knowledge to complete this quilt.

Beginning Hand Quilting

This is a beginning class teaching the fundamentals of Hand quilting. We will cover the techniques of how to start and stop, marking the quilt top, and batting choices. We will review the different types of thimbles and the pros and cons of each type. We will also cover the different sizes of quilting needles and you will be able to play with them to see which one fits your style the best. Then, we will practice making nice, even, consistent stitches. If you have a favorite thimble or hoop, please bring it along with a pair of small scissors for snipping threads. We will provide a "fabric sandwich" kit so you will not need to bring anything else.

Needle Tatting

This is not the way your grandmother tatted -- it is MUCH EASIER! You can learn how to needle tat and be comfortable with reading the patterns, yes even grandma's shuttle patterns can be used and the outcome is just the same. A great way to make beautiful trims for crazy quilt blocks or edge a candle mat.
