Applique Club

Our Applique Club now meets the second and fourth Monday each month from 10am to 2pm. Bring lunch or visit one of the restaurants nearby.

We will explore the wonderful world of applique by sharing special tips and techniques.

All applique enthusiasts, both hand and machine, beginning and experienced are welcome!

You won't want to miss show 'n tell each month. We're seeing gorgeous quilts!

2 session class with Carolyn McCray

Class meets Wednesday, September 22 and 29 from 10am to 3pm

Class fee includes a precut kit for 1 placemat using Robyn Pandolph's Fancy Hill Farms fabrics.

In this class you will learn the Cotton Theory method for making reversible placemats. Techniques taught in this class include machine quilting, decorative stitch how-to's, and binding with absolutely no hand work. Machine embroidery will also be discussed, but is optional.

In the first class you will receive a kit with all the pieces pre-cut for you. This way, we will be able to spend our class time sewing.

Brindle Basket is the first in a series of Cotton Theory projects and is highly recommended before joining later classes. It's small size is perfect for learning this new technique. When you finish your placemat, you will have the basic skills to join any other Cotton Theory class.

Later classes will include a reversible purse, reversible table runner with bobbin work, and a lovely reversible log cabin quilt with machine embroidery.

I took a week-long class this summer from Betty Cotton who developed this wonderful technique. I had so much fun sewing from morning 'til night and look forward to teaching you more ways to use your sewing machine.

Learn to stipple plus much, much more. Learn to pin your quilt and prepare it for quilting. Many tips are shared in this valuable introduction to machine quilting.

This class will meet:

Thursday, September 16, 23, and 30 from 10am to 4pm

Scenic Yosemite is a piece of art work done on fabric. This is one of Central CA wonders and you will be able to hang it on your wall.

In this class you will learn to work with different fabric, thread, and techniques to get the desired look we want. Some of the techniques are free motion thread painting, raw edge appliqué, confetti leaves, and specialty threads. You will be working with netting, felt, alpaca fiber, fusible fleece and web

The first class we will learn what works and what doesn't for fabric to get the look of nature. We will go over all supplies and fabrics that are need. No machine is needed for the first class. The next three classes you will be giving your machines and imaginations a work out. What fun!
