A Baltimore Album
When Marsha Radtke discovered a tattered quilt in her rural Maryland parsonage attic, she found more than an old textile. The red and green Baltimore album quilt had inked signatures of women with well-known area family names. The superb workmanship inspired Marsha to recreate the quilt's 25 patterns and share them with others. These classic, authentic Baltimore Album patterns sewn with expert skill before the Civil War are now redrafted for today's quilter with precision, clarity and easy-to-follow instructions. A pattern reference for those who desire authenticity in their work is included.

A Bountiful Life
Click here for a view of the quilt
More than 150 years ago, an anonymous quilt maker somewhere in the vicinity of Albany, New York, designed and appliqued what is now regarded as one of the masterpieces of American Folk Art. Using paper ephemera, this master quilter created appliqué templates to fill her fabric canvas to the very edges with a bounty of delightful images. This quilt top, called the Bird of Paradise, can now be seen in the American Folk Art Museum in New York. Karen Mowery, a folk artist and quilter, presents her version of the Bird of Paradise quilt top which has been beautifully constructed to replicate the original quilt. Author: Karen Mowery; Kansas City Star; softcover, 128 pages.

Other projects include a wool applique wall hanging, and a small table topper. Every project contains the rose applique found in Anna's original quilt to demonstrate the timelessness of the design.
