Appliqué Society

The TAS Club meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month.

If you love appliqué or are just interested in appliqué, please come join us. There is no fee, just fellowship as we stitch. If you are new to appliqué, this would be a wonderful opportunity to find a project and pick up some pointers and tips.

Stitch'n Sisters

Do you hand embroider? Do Twilling? or any other of the many other "Fancy work" techniques that are enjoying a revival?

Stitching is sew much more fun when doing it with friends. Bring your 'hand work' and join us on the first Thursday of each month. We will stitch, visit and share different techniques and styles.

Beginning Wool Appliqué - Mrs. Lincoln's Sampler

I have become thoroughly addicted to wool appliqué. It is very relaxing to sit and stitch while visiting or watching TV. This class is for those who have never done wool appliqué or would like a refresher on the beginning techniques used. We will discuss a couple of different ways of prepping your project and then review the basic stitches used. The project we will be starting for class is from our new block of the month, Mrs. Lincoln's Sampler. HOWEVER, if you are not interested in this block of the month, you may still take the class and bring your own project to work on.

Twilling

Twilling is an old-fashioned stitch that adds a lot of elegance to any project. It is very easy to do and also very addictive. Once you learn the technique the possibilities for embellishing quilts are endless. We are offering this one hour class on different days to accommodate any and all schedules!

Brazilian Embroidery - Irises

Learn some new embroidery techniques using the beautiful EdMar Rayon embroidery floss. This class will get you started creating lovely dimensional Irises. Using floss and needles provided in the kit and six fun dimensional embroidery stitches - some you may already know.

Christmas Trees

Got lots of leftover batting? How about 2 1/2" Christmas fabric strips? You can make wonderful trees as gifts or add to your own holiday decorations. These easy to make triangular trees ca be decorated with buttons, beads, Swarovski crystals, bows or tiny little fairy lights.

Sew Day

It's a "Work" party! We are holding Sew Day on the third Wednesday of each month. Bring your machine and current project to work on. A day spent with quilting friends will improve your outlook on life! Be sure to sign up as although our classroom is large, we won't overfill it.

Quilt Camp

Three full days of sewing – just think how much you can accomplish in that time! Each day begins at 9:30, on Thursday we will sew until 7:00 pm. Friday we will stop at midnight (unless you decide to fold earlier) and finish up by 4:00 pm on Saturday. Bring snacks to share and your sewing projects. In order to keep it as economical as possible, we will ONLY provide the Friday evening meal. Feel free to bring a sack lunch or there are a number of restaurants nearby that you can go to, or order a take out meal to bring back

Quilting for Beginners

In our first class we will be covering tool selection and uses, fabric choices and the basic machine piecing techniques. In the second class you will be sewing the quilt blocks and assembling the quilt. You will have a lap or throw quilt when completed.

Beginning Hand Embroidery

If you are wanting to brush up on your embroidery skills or are a first time learner, this class will give you the confidence to jump in and get started. The class will cover the basic embroidery stitches that are used in many projects: stem stitch, back stitch, outline stitch, lazy daisy, French knots, and the blanket stitch.

Whatnots Club

Kim Diehl designs beautiful fabrics for Henry Glass Fabrics and likes small projects. Her newest collection of fabric called Helping Hands will be arriving soon and she has designed 8 new small projects that can be made from this line of fabric. Most of the projects are table topper size with the largest one being 32" x 32". By joining the club, you will get first access to these projects along with a time each month to come and sit and sew and socialize. We usually meet the 3rd Thursday of each month from 2:00 to ? (we lock the doors at 8:00 pm), however, you may come and go anywhere between two o'clock and 8 o'clock. There is a $40.00 fee for this 8 month program. The projects are individually priced and you are not required to purchase all of them, however, after you see them, you will want to collect them all.

Back Basting Appliqué

Needle turn appliqué doesn't have to be scary! Nor does it have to take hours and hours of prep time before you begin to stitch! We will be using Barb Eikmeier's book Back-basting Appliqué Step by Step. By tracing your design to the wrong side of the background fabric there is no problem with marking lines on the front that don't quite get covered. A fabric kit will be provided.

Vintage Machine Club

This Club is for those of you who have those cute vintage machines and LIKE TO USE them! Come spend a day stitching with Jennifer. Bring your own project or Jeni will tempt you with a new one.

Is there an old machine back in the closet you have entertained the idea of actually USING someday? This will give you the opportunity to use your machine while sewing with friends who also love and appreciate the great stitching these vintage machines produce.

This is a monthly club that meets on either the 4th or 5th Friday of every month.

Late Night at QB&P

Spend a Friday night sewing, snacking and visiting with other quilters. This is one of our most popular events and we always have a great time while accomplishing a lot of quilting. This began as an extra sewing day for those working on the Farm Girl Vintage Block of the month, but now that the Farm Girl quilt is finished, the Sew Day was just too much fun to give up. Heirloom Treasures or Reminisce– Vintage Linen Crazy Quilt Workshop

Many have expressed interest in having a class so they too can make a quilt with the Heirloom Treasures they've inherited. Bring your drawer full of vintage linens, (Hankies, Embroidered and/or crocheted Pillow Cases, Dresser Scarves, and Doilies) and we will work together to showcase your vintage linens in a lovely quilt. Hand Embroidery, Beyond the Basics

If you have mastered the stem stitch, French knot and lazy daisy stitch and ready to add additional stitches to your embroidery work, this class will cover the following stitches:

• Fly stitch
• Long and short stitch
• Chain stitch
• Buttonhole wheel
• Cast-on stitch
• Bullion stitch

This is a two part class, the first class on Wednesday, February 28 and the final class on Wednesday, March 28.

Hand Piecing

Hand Piecing is a great way to piece small blocks, tricky curves, or just because you want a portable project. We have a number of different patterns that we use this method of hand piecing rather than using paper pieces and find it much gentler on your hands. Our Star a Day Challenge, the Lucy Boston Quilt, Hexagons and more -- did you know they can be done easily WITHOUT paper piecing or a machine? We will learn several tricks to make hand piecing accurate and the proper way to start and finish seams.

Needle Tatting

This is not the way your grandmother tatted -- it is MUCH EASIER! You can learn how to needle tat and be comfortable with reading the patterns, yes even grandma's shuttle patterns can be used and the outcome is just the same. A great way to make beautiful trims for crazy quilt blocks or edge a candle mat.

Beginning Hand Quilting

This is a beginning class teaching the fundamentals of Hand quilting. We will cover the techniques of how to start and stop, marking the quilt top, and batting choices. We will review the different types of thimbles and the pros and cons of each type. We will also cover the different sizes of quilting needles and you will be able to play with them to see which one fits your style the best. Then, we will practice making nice, even, consistent stitches. If you have a favorite thimble or hoop, please bring it along with a pair of small scissors for snipping threads. We will provide a "fabric sandwich" kit so you will not need to bring anything else.
